ABOUT VIIIC

The first International Business and Management Virtual Innovation & Invention of Ideas Competition (VIIIC) was organized by the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM Puncak Alam in 2021.

In the 3rd instalment of the competition, VIIIC 2024 encourages teams to compete to develop and present novel solutions to specific challenges or problems. Participants are encouraged to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit to address the competition's objectives. This competition often attracts diverse talent and ideas in Science and Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities; and Business and Management. Entries are judged by a jury, typically experts in relevant fields, who evaluate submissions based on its feasibility, originality, and potential impact.

Competition Details

VIIIC 2024 has three (3) competing categories and accepts submissions focusing on Science & Technology, Social Sciences & Humanities, and Business & Management. The innovation presented can be in various levels of technology readiness ranging from a commercially-ready product to an idea or concept.

Taking part in VIIIC 2024 requires participants to provide the Project Details, Video Link and Proof of Payment.

1. Prepare the Project Details required for Registration. Kindly adhere to the word limit for each section. DOWNLOAD THE PROJECT DETAILS DOCUMENT HERE

2. Once you’re ready to register, click on the online registration link and upload the Project Details into the Registration Form.

3. Project Details for all competing categories need to be in English except for Secondary School Students, who can use Bahasa Melayu.
1. Payment of fees per group is made according to the Participant Type.

2. Payment should be made using UiTM’s payment portal with the links provided under the Payment tab.

3. Keep the payment receipt generated as Proof of Payment for Submission.

4. Regrettably, multiple group payment is not available.
1. Once your Video is ready, submit the Project Details, Proof of Payment and Video Link in the online Submission Form.

2. The duration of the Video should be less than 10 minutes.

3. The Video should present the Project Details succinctly and fulfil the judging criteria.

Important: A publicly-accessible YouTube or Canva link is preferred. Please ensure video links are open for public viewing. Google Drive links are discouraged.

JRY APPLICATION

Interested parties consisting of academicians, industry practitioners and educators are invited to submit your interest to serve as a jury. Submit your application here.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Participants are encouraged to address these themes in the 10-minute video presentation.

Applicability: Problem Solving

Provide a problem statement focusing on the significance of the issue. Also, explain the extent of which the idea would solve the issue.

Novelty: Newness and Innovativeness

Explain how the idea differs from existing models/ products/ services, and whether there are any new elements or newness introduced.

Novelty: Unique and creative

Explain how the idea could possibly introduce changes and improvement to the society, economy and/ or the environment.

Business Potential or Application Potential

Explain whether the innovation captures strategies for commercialization or application into non-profit or governmental use. Showcase evidence of collaboration, partnerships and end-use product/ model for business, non-profit or governmental sectors.

Technology Readiness Level – Measurement for Innovation Readiness

Specify the level of innovation readiness based on the Technology Readiness Level. Justify the selection of the Technology Readiness Level for this project.

Intellectual Property

(Patent, Trademark, Copyright, Industrial Design, IC Layout Design, Geographical Indication) Specify whether the innovation has received Intellectual Property Recognition.

Comprehensive and effective content delivery.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I take part in the competition?
Please look at the Competition Details and download the Project Details document.

2. Will I receive an acceptance letter for my project?
Given that this is a competition, an acceptance letter equivalent to a journal paper acceptance is not a norm.

3. Can you send me confirmation that you have received my registration/submission?
You will be receiving an email for each successful submission. It might take us some time to process the entry. We ask for your patience.

4. I made a mistake with my group member's name, how do I rectify it?
If you’ve made a mistake during the Registration phase, kindly correct the detail in the Submission phase.

5. Can I make multiple group payment? There are 3 competing teams from my school.
Unfortunately, multiple group payment is not available.

6. I can’t upload my file. Is something wrong with the Google Form?
Try doing the following:

7. I would like to be a Jury. How can I become one?
Complete the Jury Registration Form. While we highly appreciate your service, we have to inform you that not all applicants will be selected, given that the competition entries come from various fields.

8. How long after the awards ceremony will I receive the e-certificate? I need it for my year-end review.
The e-certificate will be made available one (1) week after the awards ceremony. The Key Contact Person will be receiving an email from us.

9. When will I receive my Jury certificate?
You will receive the e-certificate for acting as the Jury, one (1) month after the judging process.

10. Is there any possibility my project will be rejected?
Projects which are outright plagiarised and ideas which are used not belonging to the proponents will be discouraged from Submission.
